FROM: Family Foundation [FamilyFoundation@familyfoundation.org] SUBJECT: Information Alert: Students-4-Marriage Forms in VA Victoria Cobb, Executive Director Wednesday, September 13, 2006 va4marriage.org yesterday announced the formation of Students-4-Marriage, a coalition of college students across Virginia who will be working to support the passage of Virginia's marriage amendment. A student from Patrick Henry College, Nick Timpe, is leading the Students-4-Marriage effort. Students-4-Marriage will be working in coordination with va4marriage.org to inform the public about the marriage amendment and to organize get out the vote efforts. Students-4-Marriage also hopes to show Virginians that college students care about preserving traditional marriage. Students-4-Marriage hopes to host marriage rallies on campuses across the state. In addition, Students from Patrick Henry College will put their debate skills to the test at some of these rallies, where PHC students will be debating liberals on other campuses over the merits of the Marriage Amendment. Students-4-Life is working with va4Marriage.org to form a chapter of Students-4-Marriage on each college campus across the state. As new chapters are developed the chapter coordinators are connected into va4marriage.org's pre-existing grassroots structure to work on informing the public and getting out the vote. Currently, students at 20 campuses are forming chapters. Virginia's college campuses are not void of students who hold deep convictions on values that are important. This effort by Students-4-Marriage is evidence that these students are willing to stand up for those values.
