VISION AMERICA EXPRESSES
SATISFACTION OVER ALITO
CONFIRMATION Warns Left Still Controls
the Supreme Court
January 31, 2006 Press Statement by Rick
Scarborough For Immediate Release
Vision America President Dr. Rick
Scarborough expressed satisfaction over the
Senate’s 58 to 42 vote to confirm Judge Samuel
Alito to the United States Supreme Court, but
cautioned that the battle to return the Court to
the Constitution is far from over.
"Based on his years on the bench, Judge
Alito is the most qualified nominee in a
half-century," Scarborough noted.
"The American Bar Association hardly a
conservative organization gave Alito its highest
rating. Like his predecessors, President Bush has
a right to appoint qualified justices who share
his judicial philosophy," Scarborough
added.
That liberals like Kennedy, Kerry and Hillary
Clinton actually tried to filibuster a nominee of
Alito’s stature is a sad commentary on partisan
politics at its worst. Clearly they were
playing to the nutty fringe of the extreme left
which now controls the Democratic Party and
largely funds their relentless assault on decency
in America.
While he’s pleased with Alito’s confirmation,
Scarborough warned that the court is still
controlled by judicial activists. "The
left still has a 5-to-4 majority on the Supreme
Court," Scarborough commented. "Justices Ginsburg,
Breyer, Souter, Stevens and Kennedy constitute a
solid majority for turning the Constitution into a
mandate for radical social change."
"Constitutionalists have improved our
position. But we still need one vote to restore
democracy and original intent. If the president
gets another nomination during the remaining two
years of his term, the left will launch the
rhetorical equivalent of World War III to block
his choice. Christian conservatives must be
prepared for that," Scarborough said.
Relevant to judicial nominations, Vision
America will host a national conference in
Washington, D.C., on March 27-28, -- The War On
Christians And the Values Voter in 2006. Speakers
will include Sen. Sam Brownback, Phyllis Schlafly,
Congressman Tom DeLay, Sen. John Cornyn, Alan
Keyes and Gary Bauer.
Scarborough noted that activist judges play a
significant role in the war on Christians and
Judeo-Christian morality. The conference will
include a panel discussion, "The Judiciary:
Overruling God."
